Uber the crocodile and his water snake friends who share the burden when time runs short.
Joe the monkey whose vine-swinging skills have earned him the title of champion.
Red Eyes the bat lady whose wisdom gives Timothy direction.

Mimi the young lioness who captures Timothy's fancy and inspires his best effort.
And you, the reader, who brings his story to life!
What just happened, wondered Timothy the lion cub.
He inhaled deeply. He opened his mouth. Hot breath burst forth hissing ferociously. What was this? Where was his roar? His chest tightened. His heart began to pound.
He needed that roar. A big roar was a requirement for a lion, especially a lion that planned to be the King of the Jungle. Every King so far had won the Roaring Competition as a cub and so would he. Timothy practiced his roar everyday for that very reason.
Today he had been roaring at make-believe bad guys when all of a sudden, "RRROOOAAA...hhh...."
What had started as a fine loud bellow, ended with a croak and then nothing.
Timothy ran home, slipped through the doorway, and crept against the wall toward his room. His stomach growled at the scent of roast mutton and his mother turned to see him. Timothy's eyes welled.
"What's wrong, Timmy?" She hugged him. "Are you sick with a yucky bug?"
Timothy shook his head no. His mother felt his head anyway.
"No fever. Tell me what's the matter, dear."
Timothy raised his paw pointing to his mouth. His lips moved but no sounds came out.
"You've been practicing your roars again," said his mother with a gentle smile. "Don't worry, Timmy. You've only lost your voice. It'll come back in a few days. Just rest now."
A few days? He couldn't wait that long! The Roaring Lion Competition-Junior Division was in two days and he was determined to win this year.
He climbed into bed and soon fell asleep. While snug in his blankets, he dreamed up a plan. Timothy wasn't going to wait for his voice to find him. He was going to find it as soon as possible. He would search all of the places he had been before he lost his voice.
